1992 - Commissioned by Laurie Rimland-Bonn in honor of the 85th birthday of Esther Maslow
In the style of a classical art song, this setting of the traditional
Friday Evening text consists of a gentle melody which leads to a
thoughtful recitative, before returning again.
Composed when Cantor Finkelstein was at Sinai Temple
in Los Angeles as a tribute to the mother of one of the first
female Cantors.
Scored originally for voice, piano and violin.
The voice/piano part can be found here.
From the recording Visions of Shabbat, sung by Cantor David Propis
