Nishmat Tzedek

In 1993, Meir Finkelstein was commissioned by friend and colleague Cantor Chayim Frenkel, to compose new settings for the liturgical passages in the Yizkor service in remembrance of Frenkel’s brother, Tzvi, who died suddenly at the young age of 39.

The first performance took place on November 21, 1993

Cantor Frenkel went on to commission many of Meir’s early compositions, and the two have remained close friends for more than 30 years.
